Market Entry Go/No-Go Assessment

Before the launch budget moves, test the six gates that decide entry.

Before the launch budget moves, test the six gates that decide entry. Four are hard stops: a brilliant team cannot compensate for broken unit economics, and enthusiasm cannot replace demand evidence.

VerdictNO-GO — a hard-stop gate failed
Failed hard-stop gates

Hard stops exist because some weaknesses can't be averaged away — a 5/5 team cannot compensate for 1/5 unit economics. Write the decision memo before the launch budget moves.

How it works

Score each gate 0–5. Demand evidence, unit economics, channel access and regulatory are hard stops — below threshold, the verdict is no-go regardless of the average.

Verdicts: GO (all gates pass, average ≥ 3.5), CONDITIONAL (no hard-stop failure, weak gates named), NO-GO (any hard-stop failure).

Write the decision memo the same day. A gate score you don't act on is decoration.

Worked example

A food brand eyeing a new region scores demand 2 (one enthusiastic distributor, no buyer data) — a hard-stop gate below 3. Overall average is a comfortable 3.7. The tool still says NO-GO, and the ₹80 L launch becomes a ₹6 L pilot that disproves the distributor's claim.

Illustrative figures, not a client outcome.

Questions, answered

Why hard stops instead of a weighted average?

Because some weaknesses don't average out. Averaging lets a 5/5 team 'compensate' for 1/5 economics — which is how expensive failures get approved.

What counts as demand evidence?

Observed behaviour: pilot sales, search volume, distributor orders with deposits, interviews with named buyers. A market-size report is context, not evidence.
